Change of pace-January 28, 2018

We have had such a dismal winter with very few really clear days. The pollution has been just awful. Finally people are starting to talk about it but not doing anything to make it better. We have had days of smoke from fires in other states. We have had smog and fog and just plain heavy clouds. For a state that boasts 300 days of sunshine a year, it did not reach that claim this year. I doubt we have had 3 or 4 weeks of clear weather since last October. But Thursday it was clear and we could see the mountains. So I did what I could to take pictures.

I don't know how to edit out the cars in front of us. Still you can see
mountains in the distance. They were really quite majestic.

Mount Meeker and Longs Peak. You can see that the sky is still
overcast but here that is considered to be clear. We were happy
to see the mountains.

We babysat both Friday and Saturday. Both days were cloudy and cold so we stayed busy indoors. Today has been completely cloudy and windy. Tough winter. Spring is still months away. We'll get through it. The girls bring sunshine to our lives so the weather outside does not matter so much.

Ditto-January 21, 2018

While we are trying to plan another trip, our lives still center around these little girls we call our granddaughters. Today it is snowing so we probably won't be babysitting in the next couple of days. We are prone to not driving on icy roads unless it is an emergency, both for our safety and the safety of little ones riding with us.

We did have Friday and Saturday this week to play and laugh.

This tunnel which is a caterpillar was bought for Hannah
so it is not new. But each girl has loved playing in it.
Daisy actually guided her granddaddy to the play room
and asked him to get it out for her. They all played for
a very long time squealing at the top of their lungs.

Remember those crazy orbs we bought in Sturgis?
We put new batteries in all three of them and it is a challenge
to corner them and pick them up now. They are not just bright.
They bounce randomly and make all sorts of noise. Zoey was able
to grab two of them and hold on long enough for me to take a picture.
Daisy figured out how to stick a tiny little finger into the covering of the
orb and grab hold. That brings about all sorts of excited squeals.
We never dreamed these crazy things which are hard to describe would bring
us so much fun but we have had tons of fun with them.

We are enjoying a day of rest after two full days of babysitting. We are also enjoying not having to get out in this weather.

More of the girls-January 13, 2018

So far this year, our life has centered around the girls and nothing else. We are ignoring the weather. We are watching very little tv news. Just taking care of grand girls and planning a trip to a warmer climate for a few days. Today all three girls, but especially Daisy, were very animated and full of energy.

Three cooks in one kitchen was almost too much. And each
cook was preparing a different dish.

Daisy is setting the timer on the oven.

Zoey is posing with her most serious look. I so wish I
could get her to smile in a picture.

Daisy had to take a break for a personal phone call.
This is the same phone out of their play kitchen that Zoey took
her first call on. Daisy is also wearing a pair of my Mother's beads.

It appears Hannah has an attentive audience for her cooking demonstration.

Daisy got fed up with the work in the play kitchen,
dumped all of the play veggies out of the vegetable bin,
turned it upside down and had a seat. She is quite
creative for a 16 month old. Jerry and I were laughing so
hard I am surprised it did not interrupt their playing.

We had a good day, an energy draining day but so much fun. It will take us a day or two to recuperate. Then we'll be ready to play again.

Dancing and playing-January 7, 2018

We agreed that 2018 should be a less hectic year, but so far, that's not true. This may be another year of lots of playtime with the girls.

Little Daisy loves dancing more than the other two.
It was not possible to get Daisy and Zoey facing in the same
direction at the same time.

Zoey prefers art work over dancing.

After dancing it is time to rest a few minutes on Big Dog. He has
held up well to three girls. Daisy loves Zoey in a way I have never seen
a baby look at an older sibling. Her eyes just sparkle when she hugs Zoey.
It is so heartwarming. We are told that Daisy will not go to sleep at night
until she hugs and kisses Zoey good-night.

We don't know yet what this week holds but we are ready.

Another year already?-January 1, 2018

Oh my goodness, another year has rolled around. Where is the time going? Does anybody know how to slow it down?

We made it through the insanity of Christmas gifts. We managed to get the tree and decorations taken down and packed away. It was a lot easier to put it up than take it down. We saw the old year out and the new year in. And today we had little Daisy while the rest of the family went to a movie.

We discovered after we took the tree down it left us with an empty spot. It was there before but we always found something to fill it up. We did that again.

We watched this tent at Sam's for months because we
suspected it would go on clearance. It took over 6 months
but finally it hit clearance so we bought it. It fit perfectly where
the tree was.

So today crazy Daisy got to play in the tent without her wild sisters.
She had a blast. She laughed and squealed and made all sorts of fun noises.
She looked out the windows. She opened and closed the doors.
We played Hide-N-Seek for a long time.
She is the most daring of the three. But she is such a joy.
We started the New Year out perfectly.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
