We made it a point to leave early today in case we ran into bad weather. As we pulled into the Border Patrol check point, we noticed a sign that said a canine was on duty and all pets should be restrained. That was a first. As many check points as we have been through, both in car and coach, we have never been through one with a scent dog. So you can imagine our shock when the dog alerted on the car in front of us. We just froze. If I had not been so stunned I would have taken a picture. The dog acted funny the first time around the trunk of the car. The second time around it was obvious to our untrained eyes that we were seeing something wild happening in front of us. The guy at the guard gate motioned for the driver to pull over into the inspection space. That dog nearly ate that car in one bite. It was literally trying to bite the tires to stop it. And the dog's handler, at that point, was along for the ride. We were asked how many were in our coach and then waved through. It was quite a while before either of us spoke. We were just completely shocked, but probably not nearly as shocked as the driver of that little gray car with Arizona plates. He probably did not have a good day.
We arrived in Benson, AZ this afternoon. We have been here before. We will only be here a couple of days. We just wanted to be in a good spot for the big game.
The scenery was about the same as what we have seen the
past few days. However, the sky was beautiful.
Ah, forward progress.
And then the scenery started to change. It may be brown but
it is a stunning landscape. After the past few days in blowing
dirt we were very happy to see a clear sky.
Yes, people live like this. Sad, isn't it?
Not only did the scenery change, so did the weather.
It was just rain, not a storm.
The weather cleared and the scenery became more colorful.
This is just outside of Benson. We are out of the desert floor and
in the mountains now. We are feeling better.
I wish you a very blessed Sunday. Count your blessings.
GO BRONCOS!!
