It's a perfect size for two. Children are not allowed in this park
and only one family per dwelling so they did not have to
make it too big.
Cute little thing.
We were greeted at the guard gate with the news that our little home has a new resident, a mother-to-be hummingbird sitting on a tiny nest she built on the post of our patio.
I did not dare to get closer for fear of upsetting her.
One time when she left we grabbed a mirror and saw 2 tiny eggs not as big as a jelly bean. We do nothing at all to upset her. She leaves about every 10 minutes or so for about 2 minutes, probably to get food and/or water. We wait until she leaves before we leave. There was a dove dive bombing her this morning. We chased him off. We both fear he will return when the babies are hatched. We will alert the guards of what happened so when we are gone they can watch over her. The nest is less than 3 inches across and we read that it is made with spider webs so it stretches as the babies grow. This was a terrific treat to see when we got here.
