We headed for Deadwood today. We'd been there years ago, but wanted to see it again. We obviously came in from another direction because neither of us remembered the beauty of the drive 14 miles down the road from here through Boulder Canyon. It was absolutely gorgeous. Huge green meadows and gigantic trees. We went past the prettiest golf course either of us has ever seen. We just had no idea that South Dakota was this pretty. We're so glad we came this way. Deadwood has not changed a bit. It is still a gambling town. Even the new Holiday Inn Express has machines in their lobby. All restaurants have slot machines inside of them. It seems that one of Deadwood's claims to fame is this sign.
I wonder if this is really true?
There's one thing for sure, you can walk your legs off in this town. It's not level either. So, you get a great workout. We didn't mind. It was a gorgeous day and we were happy to be out in it. We plan to have a restful day tomorrow. Hope you do the same.
