We struck out on our own this morning determined to find Red Rock Canyon we missed yesterday. We found it! And it was so worth the effort. There were times we were just speechless. We just stood there taking it all in. It was gorgeous. Bless the wonderful group that was formed to preserve this place of natural beauty. The visitors center was a complete education center. Neither of us has ever seen anything like this one. We learned so much and we both hope we retain it at least for a few years. The vast open area filled with sweeping vistas of varied colors under a contrail filled blue sky was absolutely spectacular. Like yesterday, this area has fossils of ancient sealife so it was under the sea a long time ago. This one was a tropical sea. Now it is the Mojave Desert. We saw pictures of all of the creatures that live in the Canyon, but we only saw two ourselves. We saw a number of tiny chipmunk looking creatures called desert mice and one large brightly colored Bluejay. We hoped we would not see snakes or tarantulas and we didn't. This was so worth the time to see. We will not forget this one for a very long time, if ever. We came back through the heart of Summerlin. This is the area that Las Vegas grew west into. It is quite a large city and it is so clean and well manicured. I said if something forced me to live in this area, I'd want to live in Summerlin. So nice. Wonder what tomorrow holds for us? It will have to be extra special to beat today.
Note: I finally figured out how to add a picture to this blog! Some of you will see this picture twice. Hopefully I can do this again in the future.
