A Cloudy Day-July 29, 2016

Blissfully on Thursday when we picked up the girls it was cloudy. That doesn't seem to happen often. It's just been hot, hot, hot. We headed to a nearby park and we played for a long time.

These movable Tic Tac Toe round blocks are so cute. I could get on
the other side and look through at Zoey. Then she would just giggle like crazy.
That made me laugh.

Hannah has learned to zip down a slide at top speed. We can both
remember when she was very hesitant.

It was a fun day and we were so happy it was such pleasant weather. We have not made plans for tomorrow yet. When it gets too hot we still have water pistols to fall back on. They can be very refreshing.

Glitter paint-July 23, 2016

We recently discovered sidewalk glitter paint. Today we tried it out with the girls.

It started out peacefully enough. The paint went on as one color,
dried to a lighter color and the glitter then showed up.

After they had painted for a while they discovered they could paint the poor bugs who dared to crawl across the concrete slab. They took turns painting the "victim" first purple and then pink.

And then Hannah discovered she could paint her fingernails, too.

Fortunately this glitter paint is completely washable. It was a fun thing to do for a change.
It's just too hot to even think about going to a playground and getting burned on the slides.
So we always keep our eyes open for an alternative game to play outside.

We traveled!-July 21, 2016

We were offered a free room at a hotel in Black Hawk, Colorado, and we took it. So we picked up Jerry's sister, Judy and headed to the mountains on Tuesday after we dropped the girls off at home.

I didn't realize it was so dark while it was raining. This appears to
be an eagle. Not. It is a hawk. A Black Hawk. Hence, the name of the city.
It is a beautiful little mountain town with clean air and very nice people.
And this bronze is stunning and gigantic.

The rain hit within just a few minutes after we got checked into the hotel.
I mean the Heavens opened up and it poured. It lasted maybe half
an hour. Then the sun came out. Can you see the rain pouring off the roof
just above the sign?

Every time we are there, I have to check out what they do with orchids.
That's a waterfall behind the Aspen bark and orchids. I could stand
and look at this for a very long time. It is so soothing. And beautiful.

We had a fabulous time. Jerry and I both really needed a break in our repetitive routine. We're ready to go back. They better not offer us another free room. We will trip over each other getting the truck loaded!!

In The Park-July 16, 2016

It was cloudy this morning so we stopped at a park after we picked the girls up. I was able to get a few pictures with my new phone camera. I have a lot to learn about using this device.

They always look so sweet and innocent in pictures.
Looks can be very deceiving.

Both girls have very unusual colored hair. Light brown with some
golden highlights but it also has red and purple in it. Yes, purple.
It is so unique and I love to wash and brush it when I can.

After we got home, Hannah decided to have a birthday cake for her animals.
This is made out of a wooden puzzle of colorful bears.
We encourage creativity when we can. We're not the world's best
grandparents but we know kids need to play and explore and create.

We had a really fun day and we were ever so grateful it was not another extremely hot summer day. It has been a while since we have been to a park.

Update on our phones: After 4 trips to the Verizon store and close to 8 hours of total time spent there, we finally solved the problem. No one had ever seen anything like two phones acting as one. We ended up having to disconnect Jerry's new phone and put him back on his old phone. Still it took about half hour to separate his old phone and my new phone. It appears things are working pretty well now. At some point down the road we can get Jerry an updated phone and by then it should be a separate phone.

If you want to have a rousing conversation, ask anyone who works in a phone store to explain the Cloud and tell where its server is located. We had to laugh at the answers. And every answer is different.

Tomorrow is Sunday. Have a restful and peaceful Sabbath.

To The Funny Farm-July 13, 2016

We had a weak moment today and walked into the Verizon store. A little over 2 hour later we had two new phones and a new MiFi, now called a JetPak. For some reason the guy in the store put Jerry's phone on my phone so we have two devices that operate as one. Had. I managed to get that changed so his phone is his phone and mine is mine. But we still have a few more adjustments to make. We thought this would be so easy but we  had to put away the 500 page book on Brute to try to figure out these phones.

So, say a prayer for me or I will be off To The Funny Farm!!

Catching up-July 8, 2016

Time gets away from me so it has been a few days since I have posted on this blog. Please let me share a picture or two.

The little black dot is a roly poly. It was the first time the girls had encountered one of them. Hannah saw it and started screaming. So, I told her to watch what would happen and I touched it with a stick so that it would roll up. They both thought it was so funny. We played quite a while at that game until the roly poly got fed up and crawled away. Bless his heart. As you can tell we were drawing pictures with side walk chalk.

You will never figure out what Zoey is doing. She is lining up her mew-mews and bears
so she could play Ring Around the Rosey. She sang and ran in circles until she got dizzy. Through
it all she was giggling. She's such a happy little creature.

We are still babysitting and while it seems to be getting a bit easier we are still tired at the end of the day. We won't let them be in a room together without one of us present because we fear what they can do to each other, but they do appear to be playing together much better. Zoey used to take whatever Hannah dished out. Now she gets right in Hannah's face and, in her gibberish, tells Hannah off. It is a very funny sight. They do provide quite a bit of laughter for us and we enjoy the time we get with them.
