Things change quickly-March 23, 2016

This is yesterday.
We took the girls for a walk and none of us needed coats.
Hannah and Whiskers the mew-mew really enjoyed getting out.

This is today.

Today we are having a full blown blizzard. Seriously. The roads are completely iced over. The city has come to a standstill. Everything is closed. It's 32 degrees with 31 mph winds out of the north. That leaves a wind chill factor of 18 degrees. They call it springtime in the Rockies. Our lights are flickering. We just hope we do not lose power. That will be rough indeed. For the moment we are fairly warm and out of the weather. As of this moment we are supposed to get snow on Easter, too. So, all of my friends on the warm and balmy Gulf coast, think of us! We're thinking of you!

St Patrick's Day-March 17, 2016

This is what we saw as we walked through the neighborhood
last Saturday. It was clear and the wind was brisk. It was nice to
be outside enjoying fresh air.

Today it is snowing. Yes, it has the nerve to snow on St Patrick's Day.

Nevertheless we are cooking corned beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes. I may venture into Irish Soda Bread later today. Derrick and his family are supposed to come over to eat with us tonight. The weather should not be so bad by then as to stop them though they predict 4-8 inches of snow by tomorrow. We are looking forward to sharing an Irish meal with our little girls.

HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY TO YOU!

Clocks-March 12, 2016

Be sure to set your clock forward before you go to bed tonight as Daylight Savings Time begins at 2:00 AM on Sunday.

I don't like DST, also called Summer Time, but I don't get a vote.

And for the record, DST is not law because of the farmers. A good farmer farms from sun-up to sun-down so the hours on the clock face don't matter. DST was brought back during the energy crisis in the 1970s. It had been discontinued after WWII. So, if someone you know blames it on the farmers, please correct them. Thank you.

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your lost hour of sleep!

Clouds-March 9, 2016

Thought I'd share a couple of cloud pictures with you.

See the little white things that look like scoops of ice cream.
That is a thunderstorm over Cheyenne, Wyoming. We had a
better view from our house in Loveland when we lived
there, but this is still fun to see.

This was a front that moved through here on Monday.
I thought this resembled a white hot eye. I know there's no
such thing, so use your imagination.

We thought the weather was improving until I checked weather on my phone this afternoon. It said snow on Monday. Then they said something about it on the evening news. We know it was not be an icy storm but it still makes the car dirty. It is springtime in the Rockies.

Catching up-March 5, 2016

We have been so busy that I honestly did not know the last time I posted on this blog. I hope you will indulge me while I post a few pictures.

Yesterday we had the girls for a very long day. We all survived.
At one point in the midst of running and chasing each other,
Hannah pushed chairs behind the bedroom door and ordered
Zoey to sit down. You can see she did what she was told but
she was giggling the whole time. You can see how very
different they are, not only in looks but in personality, too.

This afternoon we went to Derrick's house so the repair work on the wind damaged play set could begin.
Lucky Zoey was napping when the work first started.

The minute the swings were up and attached the girls could
not wait to get started swinging. It has been quite a while
since they were able to do this in their own yard.

Earlier today both girls attended a workshop at Home Depot. It was a hands on course about wagon building.

The aprons were furnished along with all of the materials to
build the wagons. Both girls did their own hammering.

Here's the end result of the wagon building project. It's the perfect
size for Rosie, the mew-mew. Note it has "Home Depot" on the side.
This is just too cute for words.

When we got home we realized our day had been way too exhausting for two old people. We crashed. Just as I was propping my feet up I heard a noise outside. It was an ultra light circling to land at the school across the street. The pink clouds from the setting sun were a nice backdrop.

This looks like fun to me.

We have not finalized plans for the girls next week. If the weather continues to improve we will start visiting parks with the girls. They really enjoy that. And it won't hurt us to be sore and tired.

If my brain is still working, tomorrow is Sunday. Please have a very blessed day of rest.
