What is it?-September 30, 2017

What is it?

I cannot tell you exactly what these are called but I know what they are affiliated with. These are connected in a well site near us. Each one of these things connects to a natural gas well. This particular site has 12 (twelve) separate wells in this one location. And, yes, they were all fracked. This one is the biggest of all of the dozens of wells around us. It has taken a year to complete this site. The horizon is being taken over by these well sites. Sometimes it alarms me, but I must trust that somebody knows what is going on.

To see how big they are, look at the porta-potties in the background. These things are huge! And I find it interesting they look like crosses though I think there is nothing religious about all of this drilling.

I am still sorting through the pictures of Daisy's first birthday party. She was not shy about tearing a cake apart. I should get those posted within a couple of days.

Tomorrow is October. Where is this year going?

Aspens and Scenery-September 25, 2017

We made a quick trip to Estes Park last week because we knew the road was going to be closed this week. It was also Aspen viewing time because the leaves are changing quickly. It was an unusually beautiful day.

Bronze statues don't always show up well in pictures. This is a nice
piece of work. It is a cowboy emptying water out of his boot. I have seen
the full sized one somewhere but can't recall where. This one is only about
3 feet tall but still very nice.

Now I will show the scenery we saw while looking for changing Aspen trees. We were a little late in that some of the trees were already brown.

The mountain on the left is Mount Meeker. It is 13,911 feet in elevation.
The one in the center is Long's Peak. It is 14,256 in elevation. Tree line
is 10,000 feet. Mount Meeker is considered to be an extension of Long's Peak.
You can see the bridge between the two with snow on it. The mountain on the
right does not have a name that I am aware of. If I find something differently
I will let you know.

It was a great trip. And to add fun to it we bought very fresh taffy at The Taffy Shop, our favorite place. Yummy taffy!

Crazy Daisy again-September 20, 2017

We just moved Daisy into a front facing car seat. We are a week early but she was ready.
She didn't understand at first what was going on. When she figured it out she was so excited she started squealing and waving her hands in the air. What a happy moment.

This little girl is always smiling and laughing. So we smile and laugh in return. You cannot look at her without smiling. She's just that kind of toddler. We are insanely crazy about our Daisy!

Time flies-September 14, 2017

I had no idea it had been such a long since I posted on this blog. Where does the time go? I will post a mixture of pictures in no particular order.

Derrick had a bumper crop of hops this year. He was hailed out last
year so he is happy to have such a good yield this year.

It's onion harvest around here.
The onions are picked and put in 50 pound bags though the bags
are only filled to 25 pounds. They are left in the field for two weeks
so they can dry. Then they empty the bags into a truck and take the onions
to an elevator. This was a very productive field.

Last week when we arrived to pick up the girls for babysitting we found that we had princesses to come to our house.
Zoey is Cinderella. Hannah is Ariel.

And last but not least, our little Daisy.
She is such a happy baby. We delight in her presence.
She will be a year old in two weeks.

Smoke-September 6, 2017

We made a trip to Cheyenne yesterday for lunch and some shopping. It's hard to call it a trip when it is so much closer and more pleasant than going to Denver for lunch. We have had smoke from Northwest fires for days. We have not seen the mountains is quite a while. As we drove to Cheyenne we realized it was getting worse the farther north we went. And the smell was much more intense than it is here.

Normally the Rocky Mountains are visible here.

Smoke covers everything.

I realize we are blessed we are only getting the smoke and not dealing with what Montana is facing right now, but still it is hard to breath and our eyes are watering. We are praying for all the fire fighters, the people who are affected by the fires and for the animals being run out of their homes in the forest. I just heard that over half a million acres have burned in Montana. And Glacier National Park is under seize by flames. Glacier is one of America's treasures.

Crazy Daisy-September 3, 2017

I forgot to post this funny picture of Daisy. She is fed in a high chair at her house. We sit her at the kiddie table here at our house. The first time we did that she could not eat she was so excited. Now she expects it. On this particular day we were having snacks and for the life of me I cannot remember what we were watching. Only Nick Jr is on while the girls are here.

I cannot quit laughing at this face. What on earth do you think she
saw on television? Max and Ruby? Franklin and Friends? Peter Rabbit?
We cannot remember. But her face says she was really into it. Yet
she is not letting go of the snacks. What a funny little girl!
