Newspaper-June 30, 2018

In our local paper, once a week they print articles that appeared in the paper 100 years ago. Most are funny and some are even hard to believe. But one this week caught my eye. Bear in mind this is exactly as it was printed 100 years ago, no alteration.

If the homeowner/law breaker was actually violating the Sugar
Act, so be it. I can see fining them for the violation. But to take it
away and allow a business owner to make money by selling it
really bothers me. Isn't that a bit of socialism?
I hope we never get to this point again.

Black Hawk-June 27, 2018

We were very fortunate to get a day away yesterday. We headed to the mountains, to Black Hawk. The traffic was a nightmare. Three times we had to come to a dead stop for no reason other than there are too many vehicles for the size of the road. No accidents. Nothing. Just gridlock. That made for a long time on the road but we had a great time while we were there. The weather in the mountains was perfect.

The sky was unusually blue. Very pretty.

Clear Creek was clear and running fast.

Nobody works anymore. They just go whitewater rafting.
There we so many people rafting it was rather surprising.

Construction of the 23 story Monarch hotel continues.
They have only completed 6 stories so they have a long
way to go. Claims are it will open by 2019. We don't think so.

Last but not least, the Colorado State Flower, the Columbine.
These were growing outside the Monarch casino/future hotel.
I have never seen yellow ones. They are usually blue/purple hues
and some are white. This yellow was very pretty and it seemed
so happy!

We had such a good time that we would go back tomorrow but the traffic keeps us from making that trip.

Haircut-June 20, 2018

We took Zoey for her first professional haircut yesterday. She had asked us several times to do that and we failed to get it done. But yesterday we made up our minds we would get it done no matter what. She was absolutely wonderful. She picked a picture out of a book and sat quietly as her hair was cut. We did nothing drastic on this trip but she was so happy to watch what was going on. This ended up being a great privilege for us to be able to take her for her haircut. It was so sweet and fun.

Shy little Zoey getting glamorous.
(I failed to notice the lazy oaf in the background until I downloaded
this picture). When we walked out the door Zoey said "I can see!". Bless her heart.

Unfortunately I did not take a picture of the end result but there will
be other days to get pictures.

A record-June 17, 2018

Before I begin, Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there. I hope it is a special day for you.

We think we hold the record for buying the messiest sidewalk chalk that can be purchased. We try everything new we see. This chalk is the worst ever. All we had to do is add water. Yep, you betcha. It would not mix so we ended up slinging it all over the place. But the girls enjoyed it and what we got on their clothes came out very easily.

As you can see, Daisy just let it pour out of hers. She did
not care whether she painted a picture. She just had fun.

We love when our girls are dressed like girls!

We hope we get rain today to wash the chalk off the patio.

Mittens-June 12, 2018

Last Friday when we kept all three girls I forgot to tell you we also babysat our new family member. Mittens is a tiny little kitten the girls picked up on a farm so it was the offspring of a wild mother. It came wandering up to the girls and they picked it up and brought it home. It was definitely asking for help. He/she (we don't know) is either the runt in the litter or not well. It is so tiny, maybe weighing a pound and a half soaking wet. And yes, it loves baths. Anyway we went to pick up the girls on Friday and we knew Mittens was going to be locked in a bathroom with no food or water for most of the day so I picked it up wrapped in its bed and off we went. It had fun checking out our house and finding a good spot to sleep. It played and played for hours. We had a great time watching it. We are not cat people as much as we are dog people but we found it to be quite an interesting adventure keeping a tiny kitten. After Mittens wore itself out playing it wandered around until it found a place to sleep other than its own bed. The little thing claimed the girls' Big Dog they lay on to watch tv.

Look closely. You can see Mittens snuggled into the black spot
on Big Dog. None of the girls tried to toss the kitten off the dog.
Mittens' name does not fit too well as she is solid black but
turning gray around her neck. She does not have white feet as
the name Mittens implies.
We all had a fun day enjoying the antics of this crazy and tiny kitten.

The answer-June 10, 2017

A couple of posts ago I asked if Daisy was a rebel or a clown? We have the answer.

She's our clown! She is the funniest toddler we have ever been around.
She keeps us laughing all the time. When we laugh, she laughs, too.
Even when Hannah and Zoey are battling over something Daisy
can make us laugh.

Tooth-June 7, 2018

I am not sure why I failed to post this when it happened.

Hannah lost her first tooth! She was so excited. The permanent tooth
is already coming in. I wish she had been able to wait a little longer, she
is only 5, but we don't control loose teeth. I hope she gets this excited when
the two upper teeth come out!

T-ball-June 3, 2018

Yesterday was a really nice day so we decided to try some T-ball.

Hannah caught on quickly and liked hitting the ball.

Zoey did not hit quite as hard as Hannah did, but she still did well.

And then there's Daisy....

Daisy sat on a concrete statue of a deer in their front yard.
Is she going to be our little rebel? Or our clown? No clue,
but she is a funny little girl.
