Warning-August 29, 2018

This is an FYI. I received an email this morning which asked me to click on a link in order to continue receiving email notifications when someone posts on this blog. It is spam and has been reported as such. Obviously I am the one posting and would not need to be notified by email if I posted something.

If you get the same email, please do not fall for it. I suspect it means hackers are trolling. Do not click on any link that says you can be notified if I post something on this blog. I have changed no settings. You do not need to get email notifications when I post something.

Be safe with your email. Stay alert.

Preschool-August 26, 2018

Tuesday was Zoey's first day of preschool. Her parents had to take her that day but she rode the bus on the second day. She goes 4 days a week. Thinking about that tiny 4 year old on the bus sent me into panic mode. It was only yesterday that I was told she is picked up by one bus and taken to an elementary school. Then she has to get on another bus that takes her to her preschool. That seems like such a grueling ordeal for a 4 year old who doesn't even want to walk down the street without holding somebody's hand. But she survived and I survived.

While this is not the best picture of Zoey it is definitely her biggest
smile. This is the little girl who did not like to smile. It's like she
has been freed and she is thrilled. They made the tiaras during class.
She was so proud of it.

Zoey was so proud of this. I hope it's still at her house so I can
put it on her wall for her.

I could still cry when I think about what Zoey has been forced to do. But when I look at how happy she is I am comforted. Bless her little sweet heart. They grow up way too fast.

Error-August 21, 2018

Have you ever received this error message?

Well, I haven't. I was so shocked I went running for my purse! I was simply typing an email and it
popped up. There was no problem with my internet connection.
So who was trying to reach my wallet? I'm going to start carrying only Monopoly money!

Miscellaneous-August 19, 2018

I am going through pictures again and trying to get everything moved to a flash drive, or zip drive or thumb drive, whichever you prefer. It's more like work than I care for but it has to be done. Anyway, I found a few pictures to share. Silly, goofy pictures.

Obviously this came from Facebook. I do not know who posted it.
But I just had to share it. I think this is one of the most clever wedding
pictures I have ever seen. Wish I could take credit for this one, but I cannot.

A cup of Dirt 'N' Worms. Ever had any? It's custard
covered with crushed Oreo cookies and decorated with
gummy worms, the sweet ones. Oddly the girls were a bit
unsure if they wanted to eat it when Jerry brought it to them.
But after studying it, appetites won out. They enjoyed it.

Jerry graciously vacuuming. The girls' Big Dog
was in the way so he just picked it up and carried
on his back while he worked. I think he would have
a hissy fit if he knew I posted this. I think it's cute and funny.

As I keep working my way through pictures I might find some more goofy ones to share.
I think we have to have a little levity every once in a while.

6th Birthday-August 14, 2018

Saturday was Hannah's 6th birthday. Where has the time gone? She usually gives us a list of what she wants but this year she said to surprise her. So we did.

This crazy unicorn is over 6 feet tall and shoots a ton of water
out of his horn.

The weather was nice but the water was extremely cold. Still they had fun.
The birds in the trees were most unhappy and left a thank you note on our truck.

And then there was birthday cake. She asked for a Wonder Woman
cake and got an ice cream cake. Not sure how that happened. She
should have asked us for a cake! We're good with birthday cakes.

Hannah starts first grade on the 20th. I cannot believe it. We said we would stay here until she was in school. Now we have lots to think about.

Pets and Popsicles-August 12, 2018

On Friday we lost our minds again and took all three girls to Pets and Popsicles at Centennial Village in Greeley. It is a great place when you just go there to see how people lived over 150 years ago. But several times a year they do special events. This one was for kids. It was a petting zoo of sorts. We had to walk the whole village before the girls could get their popsicles. They did very well.

Daisy has never done anything like this so we were concerned she would be frightened of the animals. How wrong we were. She ran to the sheep and goats and started petting them immediately.
I missed the best pictures because I was so shocked at how she behaved. I just stood and watched her.

She tickled this goat's ears and then giggled at what it felt like.
It was so cute to watch her.

The sheep were taller than she is yet she was not afraid. One sheep and Daisy stood nose to nose and stared in each other's eyes for a long time. It was almost like they were communicating. It was really sweet. That's one picture I failed to take because I was so busy watching.

No need to comment on the horse, but the saddle was real.

Hannah is showing her rehearsed bored look.

Daisy is insecure at this point.

All in all this was a really fun time for all of us, the old adults included. And thankfully we were there before the day got really hot. Plus they have lots of huge shade trees. The downside is that we, the "older folks" did not get popsicles!

Cheyenne-August 8, 2018

We were very fortunate today to go to Cheyenne for lunch and a trek through our favorite store, Menard's. Every time we go we try a different restaurant. Today was the best so far.

We were caught off guard when we went inside. It gets excellent reviews online but it's even better than that. The service was unbelievable thanks to Mike. What a personality he had and he was so very efficient. The place was the cleanest eating establishment we have walked into in years. Not joking. And the food was fabulous. We will definitely return to Poor Richard's as soon as we can. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 15.

We saw many antelope herds but no buffalo on the way to Cheyenne. I think antelope are fascinating. They seem so small but they are not. Very pretty animals.

We also spent about an hour in Menard's. You know how I love Menard's. If they had places to sit and rest I would walk the entire store in one day. It is so huge it's hard to shop the whole store at once.

We always enjoy going to Cheyenne. It's so easy to find our way around. Traffic is not too bad. Streets are better than here. And it is normally a few degrees cooler.

It was good to get away.

Hail, hail-August 2, 2018

Last Sunday out of the blue, though the sky was an odd color of yellow, we had a hail storm the likes of which we have not seen in years. It started out as hail and no rain. Rain would have saved us but it was absent.

There was so much hail it was rolling down the street like rain.
The rain did appear well after the damage was done.

We have a tile roof as do all houses in this subdivision. We do have cracked tiles. We picked up the broken pieces so the lawn care people would not run over them with their mowers. The house north of us got much more damage. Windows were not harmed nor was the stucco. We are every so grateful we had a big garage to protect our truck, Brute. I had looked out the window and commented that the sky did not look good for somebody. It was us! Within 3 minutes the first hailstone hit and we were shocked.

We saved some of the hail stones to use as a teaching moment for the girls.
Some of the stones were an inch and a half in diameter.

When the girls came over on Tuesday we cut some of the stones in half and counted the rings. Every ring means the stone has gone from the top of the cloud to the bottom and back to the top, a complete rotation. These stones had 3 and 4 rings. Had they had 5 or 6 rings the damage would have been more severe. Hannah and Zoey ate this up. They had no idea. I drew a picture and explained about the temperature at the top of the cloud and the bottom of the cloud and how extremely cold it has to be in order to freeze rain. I was happy to share this with them.

It will be about a 4 week wait before a claims adjuster can get here. That's fine. We fared very well. The little BMW across the street looks like the dimples on a golf ball. The owner is not a happy camper. But the apartments across the street has a number of vehicles with no windshields at all. We were and are very blessed.
