Castle-March 28, 2017

We are still working on the castle. It is going to take a long time to get it done. But slow and steady will get it finished.

Princess Hannah posing beside her castle. We might have colored
this "thing" a little differently but it is what a two year old and a four
year old want it to be.

This week is Spring Break for Hannah. So we are trying to think of something unique to do at least one day. Unfortunately the weather is not cooperating with us having a picnic unless we do it indoors.
We'll see what our old brains can come up with.

Another project-March 19, 2017

Yes indeed, another fun project. Sock puppets. It was a lot of work but worth
the time. Neither girl had ever seen one before. They are still learning how to use them.

At least it keeps me on my toes trying to think of fun things to do. We are waiting on the weather to get nice enough to start going to the park to play. We have a park very close to us but it has no swings so we have to find others to enjoy. I do plan that we have a picnic sometime later this year. Both girls have picnics with their doll house quite often so they need to enjoy a real one.

Black Hawk-March 11, 2017

BE SURE TO SET YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD ONE HOUR TONIGHT.

We were able to get away for a short while this week for a return trip to Black Hawk. It is such a nice place though small and it has the cleanest air anywhere around here. It was windier there than it was here, but we didn't mind.

I don't know why but I really like this spot in the trip. It seems to me
that you can go around the curve ahead and drop into a hole. Or at
least you don't know where the road goes.

That's a mountain wave cloud coming over the Rockies
and it is causing tons of blowing snow. This is interesting to see
but I surely would not want to be up there.

This bronze eagle is massive and very regal. Now that I think it over
it should be a black hawk, right? But I think those are the legs and
claws of an eagle. I'll study it better the next time we are there.
Whatever it is, it is really pretty.

The Monarch always has a display of orchids. Every time they
are different. I thought this was a clever display for St Patrick's
Day with the shamrocks. The green orchids were very pretty
with or without shamrocks.

We had a fabulous time and look forward to going again. We had the best tiramisu at the buffet that we have had in many years. It was delightful.

AGAIN-BE SURE TO SET YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD TONIGHT

Guess what?-March 8, 2017

Would you like to guess what we were doing? I'm not sure why Zoey felt the need to paint herself.
There absolutely never a dull moment with these girls.

Working on it-March 5, 2017

Just wanted you to know we are still working on the castle.
It is going to take way more work than we ever anticipated.

Well, not all of us work all of the time!

The girls spent all day with us yesterday. All four of us were exhausted by the time we took them home. During part of the day, while their lunch was on the stove, they pulled chairs up in front of the stove and proceeded to "read" stories to Jerry who was the chef at the time. You should have heard the stories they invented. Hannah's was long, complicated and very creative. Zoey's was shorter but really cute. When she finished she closed the card and turned to me saying, "Is that a great story, Granny?". I stifled the laughter and told her it was a fabulous story. Note: I started out being called Grammy which I like but Derrick made the girls change it to Granny which I do not like. However, if they call I will answer.

The "book" Zoey is reading is a birthday card my brother and
sister-in-law sent to her almost a year ago. It has a special spot
on a shelf in the living room. Zoey frequently reads from this book.
This is another treasured picture for me.
