Fort Huachuca, AZ-February 1, 2013

I'll be the first to admit that Fort Huachuca was not at all what I thought. It is an active army base and it is also the Intelligence Headquarters for the U. S. Army. We were allowed on the base and given a map to the three museums that are open to the public. It all pertains to intelligence back to our first Commander in Chief of Intelligence, George Washington. It was explained in detail with pictures how smart he was at reading intelligence reports. Who knew? There was a drone flying overhead when we arrived. It was one of the white blimp looking ones. The one that flew across in front of us when we left was like the ones they use in the middle east. It was much bigger than either of us thought they were. All in all it was quite eye opening. Since it is in the desert but nestled up next to the mountains, the theme throughout the base is Mexican. The buildings are low adobe buildings and they are either tan or pink. Everything has a one-ness to it.

One of the museums we browsed through. With the exception of the barracks
all of the buildings look like this one.

A tribute to a calvary soldier and his Indian guide.
This had to be after the Army defeated the Cochise Indians in this area.

We went through another Border Patrol stop when we left Huachuca. We were waved right through it so we did not have to answer any questions. That's stop number four for us. By the way, Huachuca is pronounce wha-chew-ka. It is a really pretty day today so we have all the windows and the door open enjoying the fresh air.
