Oakley, KS-May 9, 2012

We departed Greeley a few minutes ahead of schedule this morning and arrived in Oakley, Kansas a little while ago. It was a very pleasant drive and we are thankful for that. We probably won't use this route for several years. They have started digging up I-70 westbound all the way down to the dirt. So that means one lane traffic on the eastbound side. This interstate is going to be under construction for a very long time. We have still set as our goal to arrive in Thackerville, Oklahoma by Friday afternoon. We will meet up with friends from Texas there and have the weekend to get caught up on things. We only saw prairie dogs and antelope today in addition to the normal cows and horses. Actually I think they are technically called Pronghorns. We always thought a Pronghorn was an antelope. We have recently found out they are related but are not the same thing. So, we saw Pronghorns today. Farmers are out everywhere working hard to get crops planted before the weekend rain rolls in. The goal for tomorrow is Wichita.
