Ogallala, NE-May 22, 2012

The wind today cannot be described in print. It was beyond horrible. We felt so blessed to make it this far without incident and to have landed in a wonderful little place with fabulous owners. Our next planned stop is Custer, SD. But we just checked the weather and it does not sound appealing to us at all. Lows down to 34°, no thanks. We may stay here a week. Will decide in the morning. We were puzzled today by the immense number of private lakes along I-80. Every house has a private lake in front. It was unreal. Why? We also discovered that it is very, very easy to tell the difference between corn rows that are planted with GPS and those that are planted the old fashioned way. We had to laugh about that. Personally I saw enough corn that if I never see another corn field, I will not be sad. Of course this is the cornhusker state, so what can I say? If we stay here a little longer we can see Lake McConaughy which neither of us has ever seen. Plus Boot Hill, the real one, is here. So we can find plenty to do. Will let you know
