Viva Las Vegas!! - February 6, 2014

WE MADE IT! WE MADE IT! WE MADE IT!!

It was cold and quite breezy, at times really windy and it rained on us all day long. We have never been on this particular route before so we have never crossed that humongous bridge at Hoover Dam in this direction. We have never dropped down into Las Vegas like this. So, it was all new territory and I ran out of adjectives looking at the beauty. Since it was so dark and rainy very few of the 59 pictures I took are even viewable. We plan to go back out that way and take pictures on a clear day. But for now, I'll post what I can.

This is barely outside of Kingman.

A little farther down the road.

Everything is still brown but it is not the flat desert.

Lake Mead. The white shows how far down the water
level is. Picture had to be taken from the inside lane
due to strong cross winds. Not kidding.

One tiny part of the power being generated by Lake Mead.
Just past Lake Mead.
Yes, that is a road across the middle of the picture.

Can you imagine how pretty this is in bright sunshine? We are happy to be settled. It is raining again. We know we will be here at least one month. And we already have plenty planned. As soon as we settled in, we headed out to get our vacuum cleaner repaired/replaced. We went to two of the places listed on the Hoover website and neither would do warranty work. So, tomorrow we will have to call to find a good place to get it taken care of. I need my vacuum cleaner.

On another note we found out that Selena Gomez, ex or current girlfriend of Justin Beiber, just left Wickenburg. What a surprise. She was there for alcohol rehab. We did not know they had those facilities there nor did we know she was there. Not that it would make any difference to us, but it was interesting to discover.

By the way, Barbara, Dale Chihuly is having an exhibition at the Botanical Gardens in Tucson until May 18th. Don't you wish you could attend? I do.

We have changed time zones again. We're now in the Pacific Time Zone. This is a tough one. The night news comes on at 11:00 PM. We are glad this is Jay's last night because he does not come on until around midnight. After tonight we don't care. But what used to be 8:00 AM is now 6. That's too early to get up. Sorry. We have a huge adjustment ahead of us. But we'll be used to it in about 2 weeks.

We'll see what tomorrow brings.
