Terrible flooding-June 2, 2014

Last September we witnessed the terrible flooding of the Cache LaPoudre River. That was from record setting rain. That same river is flooded much worse today than it was then. It is from rain and also snow melt from the mountains. I can tell you that what you are about to see is not the worst part of the flooding. So far the worst we have seen is along the interstate. However, it is almost impossible to get pictures while zooming down the road at 70+ mph. So, please just take my word for it.

This is the river as it appears today. However, this is not normally the river.
You can partially judge the depth by how close the water is to
the lower limbs of the trees.

At this point the river is not normally visible from the road.
Clearly you can see it now.

This natural gas well is normally high and dry. Not today.

There are normally some nice horses grazing in this pasture. Not today.

What is usually a short drive to the grocery store was a nightmare today. So many roads are flooded and there are so few open roads that traffic is horrendous. It will be a very long time before those roads are open. Flood stage of the river is 8 feet. The river reached 9.14 feet this morning. And it's still rising. It is tough to watch.

Update on Zoey: She is improving. She is being weaned off of oxygen. She is learning to eat but is slow at it. I'll see if I can get a picture of her tomorrow. We're still taking care of Hurricane Hannah.
